 CARL GEYER 5 VALVE

SINGLE Bb FRENCH HORN-VINTAGE

RARE-GOOD CONDITION!!!

Up for auction is an EXTREMELY rare, handmade Carl Geyer 5 valve professional single french horn in good condition!  This horn is primarily designed for small ensemble and chamber music use.  All valves and slides move freely and there's only one small nickel silver patch on the mouthpipe guard(see picture).  There are no major dents and several minor dings are too small to photograph.  This instrument has an adjustable index finger ''crutch'', which can be rotated back into the body for storage, when not in use.  I can't find a serial number anywhere on this horn.  The only identifying numbers are on the rotor casings(which are 24, 21, 20, 19, 1 starting with the thumb rotor casing) and on the valve levers(which are 21, 20, 19, 2 starting with the 1st valve lever).  I'm not the original owner, but I believe this instrument has been relacquered at some point in time.  There is considerable lacquer missing on the inside of bell flare and the body has 85% lacquer intact.  I was told this horn may have been played professionally in the L.A. Philharmonic prior to 1975!  Included is a well used woodshell case with working latches.

Carl Geyer was ''THE'' American horn maker and made approximately 1400 horns.  He was trained in Germany and established himself in Chicago after working for another horn maker.&nb
