A GREAT horn that was made by Olds in Fullerton!

A NEW satin blast finish with a brushed brass bell interior coated with clear lacquer !!!

This is an outstanding trumpet and a top-quality instrument by F E Olds and Son in Fullerton California. Olds was long known for his fantastic designs and great playing instruments. The Ambassador has long been thought of as the best student trumpet ever made.  Many pro players still use them as back up horns. They are still sought by many comeback players since they play so well. The serial number is 514311, which should date the horn to 1965. The lacquer was well worn and there were some dents on the bell, backbow, and slides. The best thing about it was the great tone and intonation it still had.  The logo on the horn says:

OLDS
Ambassador
Fullerton
Calif.

It has a beautiful new satin blast finish with only a few small body dings and some remnants of dents on the bell tube, rim, and slides. I played this horn for a long while before I decided to strip the old lacquer and make it look beautiful again. The horn was chem. cleaned and then the old lacquer was stripped. I hand polished it and there is NO loss of thickness of the brass from buffing. I did the dent work and the brushed bell interior. The horn body was shot with glass bead to give it a wonderful satin glowing finish. I decided to put a coat of clear lacquer over it to protect the new finish and make it easier to take care of. It really turned into a beauty that will play! I have played it a lot and it has a wonderful clear tone
