This is Holton TR183 bass trombone. This particular example is a mid-1970s vintage. In fact, it was built within a year of the introduction of this model, which was called George Roberts model and was played by the legendary player at the time. 70s is also the time Holton was building some of the best instruments in its history.
It is in great condition, and it has never sustained any major damage. Slide (.562 bore) is in great condition too, moving freely and have great compression. As is the valve (a single valve with F attachment, which can be pulled to tune in E). There is no plating wear on the inner slides. Both tuning slides move with ease, as well. The red brass bell is 9'' in size, which produces warm and rich, but focused sound.
This bass trombone has a fantastic sound - do not let the smaller-than-standard bell size fool you, it has a real bass trombone sound that can get some sizzle when needed. I found it particularly suited for commercial, jazz and recording gigs. I did play it with great success in symphonies of Brahms, et al. when the section scaled back in size with an alto trombone on top.
Comes with the original case in very good and clean condition - sound structure with no musty smell at all. I will ship internationally. Thank you for looking!
