A Great American horn that is a real beauty with a NEW satin finish and clear lacquer
The Conn 15B Director was one of the best student horns around and rivals the Olds Ambassador!
This is a great Trumpet and a top-quality instrument by one of the oldest Trumpet makers in the world. Made by Conn, one of the most respected names in brass instruments, this is a 15B version of the Director model Trumpet. The serial number is C53773, which dates the horn to 1963. The body has a NEW satin blast finish and the bell interior polished with clear lacquer over it. The slides are polished brass. The valve buttons and caps are polished nickel. This is one of the Director models that came with the optional Coprion bell. There is NO look like these old Directors. I played a Conn Director Cornet as my first horn and have over 30 horns made by them now. They always have wonderful clear full tones and this one is no exception. In 1966 Conn said:
Acclaimed by music educators throughout the country as the top value in student trumpets. Designed to allow the student to progress to the best of his natural ability. Easy playing, with precise intonation throughout all registers. Remarkably centered response and tonal brightness. Ruggedly built to stand up under the rigors of student use. 17B has Coprion bell for slightly darker, more centered tone. 15B has brass bell. Medium bore feel. Length 21''. Bell 4 5/8''.
I played this horn while I was doing the work on it and fixing a crushed bell tube by the valves (Melanie said I sound great on this
