Holton Tuba, 4 Valve, Double B Flat. Ready to play. Frank Holton, Chicago. Pre Frank Holton and sons. Serial number 22315.
Circa 1907. Silver Plate (Heavy German Silver plating Style)
Plays very well. All slides pull. Valves work fine. Horn plays well and in tune. Had a big and full sound.
Fourth valve cap is slightly different than others. One brace missing. One slide pull missing.
Silver plate is missing near lead pipe as it appears a small lead pipe was used at one time in a slightly different position. Original lead pipe is on horn.
19 inch bell and there are no dents or damage to the bell.
Horn stands 32 inches high and weighs around 23 pounds.
Some dents and a resolder where bell meets tuba body.
This is an excellent example of a Holton before the move to Wisconsin and the beginning of mass producing.
Marked union made with letters MPBP and B &SW.
Comes with a large padded bag (not original) no mouth piece.
This horn has provenance. It was played for almost fifty years in a local company band by the same man. He may have owned this from new. The successful bidder will receive a copy of a picture of the band and a written history.

Just to clarify.... there are several dents and digs on this item. I have pictured the horn from all angles and you can clearly see the digs. The bell is nice and just about damage free. Hope that helps. I am not an expert on these in
