This brass is no longer for sale (sold on 2009-03-08)
Price : US $2,700.
This exceptional Martin Committee trumpet, serial# 159705, was manufactured in 1946, smack-dab in the middle of the most desirable years of this legendary model's Golden Era. It is in perfect playing condition with no dents, dings, scratches, creases or signs of trauma, repair or modification. The valves are tight and fast, and certified to not require a valve job. The horn is ready to be played right out of the box. The lacquer had mostly worn away and the rest was lovingly removed with no excess buffing which may have removed some of the metal. It has that cool, funky raw brass look that is so popular with jazz players today. It also has that funky, sultry sound that is the hallmark of fine Martin Committee trumpets, and the Who's-Who list of superstars who preferred this model: Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Dizzy Guillespie, Roy Eldridge, Art Farmer, Red Rodney and on and on. Intonation is superb, but the horn has the famous ability to bend with the player's wishes that Committees are known for. It comes with the original case in fair condition. Paypal is desired method of payment. Add $30. for UPS Insured Ground shipment to anywhere in the Continental U.S. Foreign bidders will pay more. Good luck!On Mar-01-09 at 08:01:27 PST, seller added the following information:
This is the medium-bore model, the one used by the great majority of jazz greats who played Committees. The reserve price is about half of what I paid for the horn.
