Up for auction is a silver plated cornet in its original case, made in France by Antoine Courtois & Mille. This horn is in excellent condition except for one waterkey nipple that is missing. There are numerous accessories.
Stamped on the bell it reads ''Levy's Model / Medaille / Londres 1862 / Exposition Universelle / paris 1867 / Medaille d'honneur / En Argent / Antoine Courtois & Mille / Mille 5 R / Facteur du Conservatoire National / 88 rue Des Marais St Martia / Paris / 1LR Prix / Grande Medaille D'OR / Exposition De Moscou 1872 / Medaille D'OR paris 1878 & 1889 / J. Howard Foote / Sole U. S. agent / New York and Chicago'' On the second valve is stamped ''made in France''. Valves are numbered ''1, 2, and 3'' respectively.
Condition: This horn is in outstanding condition except for the fact that one of the waterkey nipples has broken off and is missing. Valves and slides are all free. There is very minor plate loss in just a few areas, and the rest is virtually ding free and in wonderful condition. Even the case has little wear considering its age and its leather handles are intact. On the inside of the case is the name of ''J. Howard Foote New York and Chicago''. A picture of this is provided.
