Conn 2J 4 valve CC Tuba great condition with case
This brass is no longer for sale (sold on 2008-08-05)
Price : US $2,000.
For Sale: one Conn 2J CC tuba with four piston valves and hard case. The instrument features a high-gloss lacquer finish with a bright silver plate inside the bell. Also on the bell is a good deal of engraving featuring the 'CONN' logo. This tuba is 100% made in the USA, with piston valves and a classic American tone quality. Perfect for brass quintet, solo, or band/orchestra applications.
All valves and slides work extremely well, no grit or stickiness at all. This is the tuba designed by the legendary Harvey Phillips in conjunction with the master craftsmen at Conn in the 1960's. This particular horn is of early 1970's vintage, and is in terrific, original shape with lacquer coverage scoring about 95%. There are some very small scratches and dings, but nothing large enough to appear to the audience when you're playing or effect the sound or response of the instrument in any way.
The valve slides are designed with easy, on-the-fly fine tuning in mind, all accessible to the player while performing. The scale and response of this tuba is good enough that you probably won't have to do too much fiddling with the slides, though.
The instrument specs:
Bell: 16 1/2 inches
Height: approximately 35'
Four Valves, solid brass and nickel silver construction.
There is a reasonable reserve price on this auction, much lower than this tuba sells for in music stores. Local pickup is available%
