Up for sale is a 1935 Conn 40B Vocabell in excellent condition.  The 40B is one of the most unique trumpet designs to come out of the art deco era.  In addition, this is the factory-engraved model that most people look for.  The horn’s serial number is 306587.  The silver plate on the horn is nearly 100%.  There are only a few tiny dings on the body of the horn.  The engraving is crisp and clear throughout.  The interior of the bell is finished in a gold wash.  The rimless bell is perfectly in round.  There is no evidence of repair anywhere on the trumpet.  I had it cleaned ultrasonically and had new corks put on the valves – everything else on the horn is original.  I am a trumpet player, and this horn plays as good as it looks.  Valve compression is very good and the valve action is smooth and quick.  Also included is the original Conn case, a Conn #4 mouthpiece, and the original music lyre.
Here is what the Conn Loyalist Website (http://www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen) has to say about this horn:
Notice the vocabell (rimless), the octagonal valve casings and the position of the third slide finger ring. In case you are wondering: the valves themselves aren't octagonal. Also note that the position of the third valve slide and the tuning slide on the third valve casing are reversed from the usual/modern way.  Apparently the instruction manual said of the valves: ''Use distilled water on the valves. Only inferior horns need oil lubricant''. The 40B has a #1½ (0
