Conn 16E Mellophonium Mellophone with case


Conn 16E Mellophonium in F.  Includes case, mouthpiece, and E flat crook.  Serial number is K98404.  Plays very well.  Has a few dings and some lacquer wear.  The worst spot is a slight crumple at the base of the bell flare, but this does not affect the sound.


Most people looking for this horn are familiar with the Stan Kenton connection, so I won't go into it here.  A web search of 'mellophonium' should lead you to the interesting history/legend of the mellophonium.  This would be a perfect addition to any jazz trumpet player's collection, letting you cover F horn and alto saxophone parts without transposing while adding a great new timbre to your repertoire.
