Conn 17A Director Cornet with Coprion Bell
I have researched articles about this cornet and found the information I've noted here on this page. I believe the information to be correct, but it is the responsibility of the bidder/buyer to come to his/her own conclusions after asking questions, viewing the photos (requesting more, if necessary), and reading this entire page.
This vintage cornet comes with what appears to be the original case, Vincent Bach 6B mouth piece, slide grease, and cleaning cloths. It is 16 3/8 inches long, and the bell diameter is 4 3/4 inches. The bell has an engraving of three band players with stars above them and is made of pure copper (coprion); the remainder of the instrument is of brass. The fingerings (valve tips) are made of mother of pearl. The slides move easily, as do the valves. I don't know how to describe the sound of the horn as I know almost nothing about cornets, other than the information stated below.
The case is in good condition for its age, but some of the stitching is coming loose on a few seams (see photo). Even still, all of the edges are securely in place; none of them are loose.
